    • Invest early and on a regular basis
    • Use tax laws to your advantage

  1. Debugging the Investment Maze (Suggested age 20 to 50)
    Presented by:  Leon Neumann, Treasurer, Peter Bressler, Assistant Treasurer and Nadine Thompson, Benefits Analyst
          Feel like your drowning in information about retirement planning options?  Perhaps you feel that you have no real control over your own money because you don’t understand enough about investing.  If so, don’t worry.  You’re not alone.
        People as intelligent and financially responsible as you are, at all income levels, often feel totally unqualified to invest their own money, no matter how competently they handle everything else in their lives.  This presentation will discuss many of the strategies needed for successful investing, such as:
    • Stock market characteristics;
    • How to focus on the things you can control;
    • Specifics to the Navigator Plans
    • How to avoid the things that can derail your plan
    • Tools and Resources

  2. Mystery Housing Allowances--what? And Other Tax Questions  A cartoon depicts a young boy asking his father, “Dad, Why is it called a Tax ‘Code’?” The father replies, “Because you can’t read it, it doesn’t make any sense, it’s scrambled and nobody can figure it out.”  Yes, tax laws (the Internal Revenue Code) are complex and can be very confusing.  However, the Bible says in Romans 13:7, “If you owe taxes, pay taxes…”  Come crack the Code with us regarding the elusive Minister’s Housing Allowance, the foreign earned income credit and other tax questions as time permits.  You may e-mail general questions by October 15, 2007 to carol.story@navigators.org

  3. Women's Lunch Bunch  Hosted by the National Women’s Network. Come (with your box lunch) and meet the women involved in the NWN. Find out what we are all about and how we want to serve and connect with you. Door prizes and give-aways!!

  4. How to Write a Bible Study for NavPress
    Presented by Dan Benson, editorial director for NavPress
    Too many would-be authors think that Bible studies are a quick-and-easy way to break into print. Far from it! If you’ve been leading small groups and want to check into writing Bible studies for publication, don’t miss this seminar. Together we’ll explore:
    • The types of Bible studies NavPress is looking for
    • The differences between the average study and an engaging, life-changing study
    • What the NavPress publishing board looks for in a Bible-study proposal

    Dan Benson, editorial director for NavPress, is a 25-year veteran of Christian book-publishing management. He has served with Thomas Nelson Publishers, Multnomah Publishers, and WaterBrook Press, among others, and has authored books published by Tyndale House, Zondervan, and W Publishing.
